Let’s face it, most people watch tv. And tv’s aren’t exactly a pretty object in a room. That’s why the the tv console has to be both functional and attractive. My clients M+C needed something large and substantial for their living room tv. I found this credenza on craigslist for $100. The size was perfect, the lines masculine, and it had ample storage (big issue in this space).
It was a beast of a thing and took three guys to move! I knew I wanted it to be darker and warmer to contrast with the yellow sofas in the room, so I chose a warm dark gray paint that was left over from another project in my house. The paint alone was a huge transformation! The credenza was made with grooves on the doors and drawers for opening, but this guy really needed hardware. I chose these handles from Home Depot (sold online only). They were crazy cheap at $2 each.
And voila! Transformation complete. My clients LOVE the credenza (me too!). This guy is a show stopper in their room and you don’t even see the tv anymore. It’s also the perfect masculine balance to their curvy, feminine vintage yellow sofas. Match made in heaven.
Look for the full room reveal in the next couple of weeks!
