My name is Misty Spencer. I was born in Texas. I grew up in a big family with a mother who majored in the art of thrifty. I’ll admit, I was the embarrassed child hiding in the backseat for years. As I got older, she taught me that the value of an object was in the eye of the beholder and I discovered my own love of thrifting. Although not always fashion forward (oh those preppy 90′s), I developed a strong sense of style early on and fell in love with decorating. I studied Interior Design in college but stopped just shy of a degree (sorry mom). I pursued a successful career in organic hairstyling, moved to New York City and finally settled into a happy existence of vintage modern decor, filling my home with things I love. I’m a dreamer and music lover. I sing a lot and love to be around people. I’m an avid DIY-er and completely addicted to chairs.
I live in Fort Worth, Texas with my three young kids. I am lovingly renovating a 1960′s home in an up-and-coming neighborhood. I have an open door policy, always ready to share a glass of wine with sweet neighbors and friends, and I may or may not be known among them for throwing a killer dance party.
Objects Living co. came about after years of hunting for that perfect vintage sofa, the right mix of feminine and masculine, and the knowledge that a well designed room is powerful enough to change your life.
I believe there are three parts to good design: function, style and feeling. I believe when you find that perfect combination of function and style, it changes how you live and move in the space. Mixing old and new objects is essential. Vintage pieces have a history and a soul, and a room is not the same without them. I believe a home should reflect those who live in it — however bold, quirky or quiet you are. Creating a stylish home filled with things you love changes the way you feel in your space and frees you to live.
