trend: abstract dots
I recently took a quiz to see if I am left brained or right brained. I knew the answer already but I thought it would be fun to see how I tested. Just as I suspected, I use each side of my brain equally. In fact, it’s almost scary to see how perfectly this plays out in my life. Take my clothes for instance. If you look in my closet, items are organized not only by color but also by style (tanks, short sleeve, long sleeve). Drawers are sorted in the same way with with boxes and dividers to keep them tidy. But there is always a heap of clothes on the chair at the end of my bed. As much as I need to have a system in place, I also need the option to break the system at will.
Which brings me to my new obsession: abstract dots. The left-brained me loves (to no end) black and white stripes. I use them in almost every room in my home (and sneak them into client’s homes too! See my portfolio)…drapes, tables, walls, pillows, rugs. They are simple and orderly and make me happy in a way that no other pattern does. Until now. Enter the right-brained me. I saw this photo in the March issue of Lonny magazine and I seriously went nuts over the space, specifically the dot painting.
