I have been on the hunt for a mid century style desk for my boys’ bedroom for several months. There are so many great varieties out there, but I just wasn’t willing to fork over much cash for a piece of furniture that will potentially be covered in stickers, scratched up, or some other destruction destined to happen in a boy’s room. (Am I right?!) On this particular day I had been thrifting for a few hours, searching for client treasures without any luck, when I stumbled across this amazing desk! Read more
I LOVE brass bar carts. I’ve bought two in the last month for crazy cheap, even though I didn’t think I had a place for one in my home. My dining room has a wall of built-ins (what I consider to be a butler’s pantry) and we use it as our bar. When I started decorating my new home office (a room we lovingly refer to as The Study), it hit me…I had the perfect spot for a bar cart!
The room is filled with windows and built-in bookcases, except for this small area directly behind my desk.
Confession: I am completely obsessed with this panther mosaic art piece! I bought it for $10 at Berry Good Buys (one of my favorite local thrift stores). It’s seriously heavy and I have no idea where I’m going to put it…but I LOVE it. It’s funky and quirky and so completely me. I found the set of six vintage books by O’Henry for $5 at a flea market. Now, it’s probable that I won’t actually read the novels. I love to read but with my crazy life I struggle to find the time. However, with titles like Whirligigs and Options I must say I’m tempted (what?…these titles don’t intrigue you?). My sister Heather is a total bookworm and thinks I’m crazy to buy books that I have no intention of reading. The truth is, whenever I buy vintage books, the titles have to be at least somewhat as interesting as the covers are attractive. Because one of these days my life will slow down and I’ll have the time to read The Trimmed Lamp.

I might have a
large small obsession with yellow. It’s bold and bright and sings so much louder than whats around it, not unlike myself (my apologies if you actually enjoy listening to the recording artist)! This lemon-y shade is cheerful perfection and I couldn’t help but find a place for all of these thrifty finds in my own home. The vintage glassware came with a set of six for $2 — LOVE the diamond pattern! My daughter claimed them as her special milk cups.
